Queensland to spend $10 million to fight against banana disease

Bananas
The Queensland Government will spend close to $10 million in its forthcoming budget to boost the fight against the devastating banana disease, Panama Tropical Race 4 (TR4). The $9.8 million allocation comes on top of the $4 million dollars already spent to contain TR4 since it was found on a farm in the Tully Valley in early March. Qld Agriculture Minister Bill Byrne said he is determined to do everything possible to protect the $600 million banana industry.
