NEW Zealand kiwifruit company Seeka has bought out a Goulburn Valley kiwifruit farm.
NZX-listed Te Puke company Seeka Kiwifruit Industries forked out $22 million for Australian company Bunbartha Fruit Packers in Shepparton. The acquisition will make Seeka Australia’s largest kiwifruit grower, a position it already holds in New Zealand. Bunbartha owners John Karl and Jamie Craig will continue to work in the business. The sale is expected to settle on August 20, subject to approval from the Foreign Investment Review Board. The 505ha property has 240ha of fruit orchards, including 95ha of kiwifruit.
