Export
Carlos Furche, Minister of Agriculture of Chile, announced the official opening of the Chinese market for the Chilean nectarines export. After three years of negotiations and diverse meetings held between the authorities of the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) and the Chinese AQSIQ, these fruits can directly enter into China.
Chile exports about US $ 50 million of nectarines. In the case of Asia, the South American country produces a special variety. “The benefits are clear: producers and exporters of nectarines get access to a dynamic market in expansion which also provides them new possibilities to diversify their shipments. This allows us also to develop the commercialization, as the demand of this product grows in other countries, both in the European Union and he southern hemisphere”, said Furche.
This announcement was also well received by the business sector. For the president of the Fruit Exporters Association (Asoex), Ronald Bown, this marks an eventual potential of one million boxes to be exported to China. “More than 500 producers will benefit, and also workers whose conditions will be improved”, explained.
