Organized by Feria de Madrid (IFEMA) and the Spanish Federation of Export Producers Associations (FEPEX), The Fruit Attraction trade show confirmed itself as a key trade event for the international promotion on the field of fruit and vegetable production.
Madrid Fruit Attraction 2016 arranged historic results at its 8th edition, with a record number of 1,238 exhibitors from 25 countries, representing an increase of 20% over the previous year, and 58.150 visitors from 102 countries (+18%) on a 40,000 square meters surface. These facts confirm the Spanish trade fair as one of the major international events at the fruit and vegetable sector.
Europe contributed with the most numerous group of visitors, followed by countries like Brazil and Morocco. Relating to exhibitors, international participation accounted 31% of the total, with 383 foreign companies from 25 countries. The exhibition area of producers was once again the segment with largest representation (912 exhibitors). Auxiliary industry acquired a significant weight, with 326 companies. The fair also hosted a new special section at the Agro Smart area, focused on the application of technologies to generate new products and agri-food services in order to increase productivity of horticultural farms.
Technical Conference Program
Fruit Attraction included a comprehensive program of seminars and activities orientated to offer the professionals a space for discussion and exchange of knowledge. Among others, the IV International Congress of seedless grape, organized by APOEXPA with the collaboration of FEPEX; Apple and Pear Attraction, marketing and promotion; innovation in the value chain, with the collaboration of ANOVE, and improving the availability of plant protection products in small crops, organized together with AEPLA. The fair also hosted workshops like The smart agro day event, organized by AMETIC – Smart Agro Commission and dedicated to the generation of new products and agri-food services, or The future of technology in plants, supported by Biovegen.
Another initiative was the fifth edition of the Pasarela Innova, a space in which 43 new products, varieties or brands were exposed. Additionally, the Innova Forum hosted talks, presentations and technical seminars with the latest developments and solutions for the fruit and vegetable sector offered by the participating companies.
The 9th edition of The Fruit Attraction will be held on 18-20 October 2017.
