In Rimini, Italy, IFEMA, Madrid, and Cesena Fiera announced a new event in the horticultural sector. The organizers of Fruit Attraction, Madrid, Spain and Macfrut, Cesena, have jointly created a new platform for the fruit and vegetable sector. Following an agreement with the IFP Group, the leading trade fair operator in the Middle East, the first MacFruit Attraction will be held in Cairo from May 4 to 7, 2016, as part of FoodAfrica, a food show for the Middle East and North Africa.
Renzo Piraccini, president of MacFrut, said that “the internationalisation of the fruit and vegetable sector is being achieved through specific development plans for the global market, and both Fruit Attraction and Macfrut are platforms which take this direction”. Also, he added that “the creation of this new project, Mac Fruit Attraction, which came from the synergy between the two world leaders in production and wrapping and packaging technologies, will lead companies in the industry to new emerging markets and to develop the internationalization in the Persian Gulf, North of Africa, South America and Asia”.
Raúl Calleja, director of Fruit Attraction, underlined that “Mac Fruit Attraction aims to grow and establish itself in the global fresh produce market, allying itself with strategic partners in local markets of relevance to the sector. A young, dynamic and flexible new network which knows how to adapt to the specific needs of each market”.
The director for research and development of the IFP Group, organizers of FoodAfrica, Kmal Ayolub, attended the presentation of the new show concept. He highlighted the opportunities of this co-operation for the international fruit and vegetable industry in Egypt, which is very active and dynamic in production, import and export of fruit and vegetables. It is planned to exceed the attendance of 8,340 professional visitors and 241 exhibitors from 18 countries in the past year.
